Obstacles, bad circumstances, pressure, self-doubt, barriers, mental limitations, unexpected series of unfortunate events, sickness, lost loves, and many more things will come to plague us all. Bumble Bee is about getting through them even if in a way we didn’t imagine.

Tidbit about the artist

Zedd was born in Russia and grew up in Germany. In a way he’s similar to me because he moved to Germany when he was 3 years old and I came to the USA at the age of 3 as well. This song is not even close to his more well known songs but I’ve given it special meaning and put it on when I need a boost in morale.

For anyone that has studied Zen, even if only a cursory study, there is likely to have been mention of the fabled koan. This is the definition listed on my computer’s dictionary of that word.

koan (noun) - a paradoxical anecdote or riddle, used in Zen Buddhism to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment.

Here’s an example of a koan I attempted to make up:

How many smiles does it take to break the sun?

I bring up the koan because it’s a simple illustration of an impossible problem. In my own daily life I’m sure I make up at least half of the problems I face, and the other half I face are made up by others….and that means that in the end all my problems are made up. And yet life goes on and I must deal with them somehow.

What to do when faced with an impossible problem? I’m glad this song exists because it provides the answer with very few words that took me many years to realize. It serves as an anchor to that answer.

Break through. It’s alright to break through.

There isn’t much by way of lyrics, but here they are in their entirety.

Break through
Break through
Break through
It’s alright to break through

Break through

Break through
It’s alright to break through
